Counting Calories NEVER Works!
This may sound strange - after all it should be simple, right? Count up the calories you eat, and if it’s less than what you’ve “burned” for the day/week you lose weight…
Ha! How’s that been working out?
First of all it’s nearly impossible to accurately count calories, unless you’re eating nothing but foods that come in a bag or box, and even then it’s incredibly difficult because the serving sizes can be difficult to calculate or keep track of.
Do you know how big a tablespoon is just by looking at a jar of peanut butter? Of course not! But you should know that a serving of the average peanut butter is 2 tablespoons for over 200 calories, and those 2 tablespoons are really small!
Add to that the fact that nobody counts calories accurately. Controlled studies indicate the majority of people (between 75-90%) consistently (and massively) under-report their calories consumed when they are asked to track their own calorie intake.
There have been studies showing people UNDER-report by at least 30%, and sometimes MORE - and these are the people TRYING to be accurate.
Imagine all the times you’ve just estimated the amount of calories in a food, and now think about how often you were massively wrong. It’s easy to see why you’ve struggled to lose weight now, right?
The truth is calorie counting NEVER works because it’s just impossible to do with any accuracy.
