In Super-Affiliate Lesson #2, I talked about more pay-per-click (PPC) strategies using the power of the "content" network within google adwords, and also introduced the idea of getting your own domain (forwarded to your hoplink and masked) to use for your affiliate promotions.
In this lesson, I'd like to expand further about the power of using a forwarded/masked domain to promote the Truth about Abs as an affiliate.
The Power of the Masked Affiliate Domain
Think about it this way... once you get a domain to run your affiliate link through, you now own your very own website which you can advertise ANYWHERE online or offline and you will make 75% of every sale that comes through your domain. Having your own domain allows you to advertise in LOTS of new ways that you wouldn't be able to advertise some ugly looking affiliate link.
For example, I talked in the last lesson how using your masked domain to advertise on PPC networks now allows your ads additional exposure since you're no longer competing for top placement with all of the other affiliates and the website owner for the main website's domain (in this case, TruthAboutAbs.com), since google will only display the main website once.
But if we're all using different domains... you, me, and a handful of other affiliates can all show up right next to each other in both search and content ppc listings, increasing your chances of getting more exposure for your affiliate link and more sales.
However, here's another benefit of a masked domain that most people haven't thought of... this will increase the amount of sales you see as an affiliate. Here's something you probably don't realize that happens many times when you just use a standard affiliate link to advertise...
How Many Sales Did You Miss Out on by Using a Standard Hoplink?
The vast majority of people browse the internet while they're at work each day. The searcher clicks on your ad at work with your standard affiliate link (non-masked). They then look at the website, and maybe they decide to buy, but since they're at their work computer, they decide to wait until they get home that night when it's more convenient to come back and purchase.
Then they save the web URL (which is now converted to the vendors URL and not your hoplink anymore), email it to their home computer, and purchase the program when they get home that night. Since they purchased from a different computer, which didn't have the clickbank tracking cookie, you missed out on your commission as an affiliate.
Now don't freak out and get too worried that you're losing lots of commissions as an affiliate because of this scenerio (this doesn't really happen that often). Probably more than 9 times out of 10, most people are still going to buy from the same computer they clicked on your affiliate link with and you receive your due commission.
Part of affiliate marketing is knowing that it isn't a perfect game, but rather a 95% accurate game. We all know there are certain flaws in the system where some people's computers don't allow cookies and so on, but the bottom line is that a whole lot of us are making a good living as affiliate marketers, so rest assured knowing that it works well enough for you to do VERY WELL!
But now here's where your masked domain averts this problem. Even if they click on the affiliate link at work, they are not seeing the vendors domain, and are rather seeing your masked domain, so when they go back to that domain when they get home at night, your cookie is now placed on their home computer as well. Now your tracking cookie is both on their work computer and their home computer, so you no longer miss out on that small % of people that wait to get home to make the purchase.
More Ways to Harness the Power of the Masked Domain
Like I mentioned, now that you own your very own domain to advertise in any way you want for the Truth About Abs, let's start talking about a few options. Since most article directories, craigslist, forums, and lots of other websites don't allow blatant affiliate links, you can now get around that with your masked domain, since it simply looks like a normal web URL instead of an affiliate link.
Here are a few options you can start experimenting with your masked affiliate domain:
- free article directories (best rankings come from ezinearticles.com for organic traffic)
- forums
- craigslist
- myspace
- offline newspaper ads
- offline magazine ads
- other offline places (use your imagination... think outside the box... what locations would people be hungry for fitness info to lose fat and get six pack abs)
- within a video on youtube
- squidoo.com lenses (get great organic rankings in search engines if you create your page right)
- hubpages.com (another free place to make your own pages and ranks high in the SE's also)
- yahoo answers (long tail keyword phrases as the title of the page tend to get great rankings in SE's)
- yahoo360 (virtually untapped, but with good potential... can create your own pages free)
- and many more!
This has gotten a bit long for today, but I'll get back to you soon and go into more detail on each of the opportunities above to market your affiliate domains. There is TONS of traffic available out there for this niche guys! With a little creativity and a little work on diversifying your traffic sources, you can tap into a huge amount of traffic and make great money.
If you're someone who's doing affiliate marketing "on the side" and still working at a day job...keep in mind that I was in your shoes just as little as 10 months ago. The day that I had created enough financial freedom as an internet marketer to walk away from my day job and be my own boss was probably the most exciting and rewarding day of my life... and there's no reason you can't do it also.
Think about it... if you're working a $60K/year salaried job and want to build your affiliate income to the level where you're comfortable quitting, all you need to do is generate $165 per day on average in profit ($165/day X 365 days/yr = approx $60K) to equal the same income as your job. That's fairly easy if you've followed the techniques I've laid out in some of these lessons. The cool thing is that once you get out of that J.O.B that's draining your time, you free up all kinds of new time to devote to your internet marketing, and your online income doubles, triples, even quadruples in no-time flat.
Another thing: Remember to think BIG... I know it can be hard to think big when you're not even making $100/day yet as an affiliate... but I can tell you that the bigger you think and the more action you take, the more $$ you will make. Keep in mind that if you start to do some of these techniques right and multiply those efforts, there is no reason you can't make over $1000/day JUST from selling my product alone. That's not unattainable... you'd only need to make about 33 sales/day of TruthAboutAbs packages to make $1000/day... some of my affiliates are doing a LOT more volume of sales than that!
